What changed
The old Q&A section let anyone ask a question on your listing and anyone answer it. It was messy, but you could post your own answers and correct the wrong ones.
That section is gone. In its place, Google Maps answers questions about your business itself, using Gemini. Someone asks whether you do weekend call-outs, and Google writes an answer from what it can find about you.
Where the AI gets its answers
From the things you already control, plus the things you don't:
- Your profile. Description, services list, hours, attributes.
- Your reviews. What customers say about price, speed and which suburbs you went to.
- Your website. Service pages, FAQs, anything that states a clear fact.
- Everything else online. Directories, old listings, other people's sites.
How to make sure it says the right thing
- Fill in every service with a short description that answers the obvious question. “Do you do emergency call-outs?” should be answerable from the services list alone.
- Put your real answers on your website as plain questions and answers: price ranges, areas you cover, how fast you come out, warranty.
- Fix any old directory listing with the wrong hours or phone number. The AI can read those too.
- When you ask for reviews, a light “mention what we did and the suburb” gets those facts into the review text.
Check what it currently says
Open Google Maps on your phone, find your listing, and ask it the three questions customers ask you most. If an answer is wrong, find which source it came from and fix that source. Then check again in a few weeks.
Rather not do this yourself? Our Google Business Profile management handles the profile, the posts and the reviews every week, for one monthly fee.
